## In their own words

"The goal is not to be cured, but to develop" (Dr. Gabor Mate). I believe that the point of therapy is not to free you from the struggles of life, but to support you in your growth and help you uncover your authentic self which holds your capacity to heal. My role as a therapist is to support and guide you in the process of rediscovering the wisdom and strength within you by building self-understanding and creating a space of compassionate, non-judgmental acceptance of who you are and what you’ve experienced. My work is trauma-informed and based in relationality as starting with a strong therapeutic relationship is important for allowing your experiences and authentic self to flow naturally. My approach is tailored to you and often involves a blend of cognitive methods, including Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and Narrative Therapy, along with body-centered and emotion-focused approaches, such as Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART) and Focusing-Oriented Therapy (FOT). I have experience supporting people through ADHD, anxiety, depression, grief and loss, difficult life transitions, parenting stressors and intergenerational trauma, among others. With a master’s degree in clinical social work, I’m passionate about social justice and I believe that each person doing their own individual work is the first step to creating a more just, sustainable world around us. As a second generation Canadian, I understand first-hand how the intersections of mental health, cultural identity and stigma can shape the way a person experiences therapy. I also strive to be an effective 2SLGBTQ+ ally and to hold space for every part of you to be seen, heard and valued. If you’re feeling fed up with the weight of your emotions and feeling like every day is a struggle to manage, then therapy might be your next step. Therapy is the place for not only working through the traumatic and difficult parts of your life, but also the place to celebrate your progress and all the beautiful things that you experience along the way.
