Melissa is a Provisional Psychologist (College of Alberta Psychologist CAP) based in Calgary Alberta. Hello, I am Melissa Spaetgens and I embrace a compassionate, holistic approach to counselling. Specializing in mindfulness, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), I offer a supportive, nurturing environment where clients can embark on a journey of self-discovery, acceptance, and personal growth. Believing in the intrinsic value of every individual, I approach counselling with a person-centered philosophy. I understand that true healing and growth are holistic, encompassing the mind, body, and spirit. By integrating mindfulness practices, Melissa helps clients cultivate a heightened state of awareness and acceptance of the present moment, laying the groundwork for transformative work. I have volunteered with Kids Help Phone for one year as a crisis counsellor and found it to be a profound learning experience. I foster a collaborative approach, where I work together with clients to identify goals, uncover insights, and develop effective strategies for coping with life’s challenges. I specialize in addressing a wide range of emotional and psychological issues, including anxiety, depression, trauma, stress management, self-esteem issues, relationship challenges, and life transitions.
