Email:  Shawna@therapyworksbc.com Hi, I'm Shawna, a registered social worker with a passion for creating culturally safe and supportive spaces. With roots in both Irish and Dutch heritage and deep ties to the Indigenous community in Secwepemculucw, I bring a unique blend of experiences to my practice. I’m trained in various therapeutic approaches, including EMDR, Somatic Experiencing (Level 1), CBT, ACT, and Solution-Focused Therapy, among others. I love integrating these methods in a strengths-based, trauma-informed way, always collaborating with you to guide your own therapeutic journey. Whether it’s working with children, teens, parents, or neurodivergent individuals, my goal is to support you in a way that feels right for you. As someone who is neurodivergent, I’m especially passionate about helping others understand their brains and navigate their unique experiences. I believe that the more we understand, the better we can manage and thrive. Outside of work, you'll find me enjoying board games, watching anime, paddleboarding, or simply savoring a good cup of coffee. I’m also a big fan of spending time with my kids, cats, and the great outdoors—oh, and I ride a sport bike too! I’m here to walk beside you on your path, whether it’s a literal walk or a figurative journey. If my approach resonates with you, I’d love to connect and explore how we can work together.
