## In their own words

\#**ACCEPTING NEW CLIENTS** Amara is a Registered Provisional Psychologist providing counselling services to youth, adults, and couples. She has experience supporting clients through a wide range of concerns, including anxiety, depression, stress, grief, self-esteem, relationship challenges, and life transitions. Amara takes a collaborative, nonjudgmental, and client-centered approach to therapy, with a strong focus on helping clients build insight, resilience, and confidence. She draws from an eclectic range of evidence-based approaches, including Narrative Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Existential Therapy, Psychodynamic Therapy, and the Gottman Method. As a Gottman Level 1 trained therapist, she incorporates research-based strategies to help couples strengthen communication, navigate conflict, and build healthier relationships. She also incorporates psychoeducation and humour into sessions, believing that knowledge and lightness are powerful components of healing and growth. Amara holds a Bachelor of Arts in Ballet and Contemporary Dance from the University of Kent, a Bachelor of Education from the University of Alberta, and a Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology from Yorkville University. Prior to becoming a therapist, she worked as both a teacher and a professional dancer, experiences that continue to shape her appreciation for personal growth, creativity, and the unique strengths each individual brings to therapy. She is committed to ongoing professional development and regularly engages in continuing education to provide the highest quality care to her clients. **Provisional Psychologist Billing and Insurance Reimbursement** Please note that provisional psychologists are not eligible to provide direct billing through TELUS eClaims insurance providers. Clients receiving services from a provisional psychologist will be responsible for payment at the time of service. Following payment, clients are encouraged to submit their invoice and receipt directly to their insurance provider for reimbursement, in accordance with their individual extended health benefits plan. Coverage and reimbursement amounts are determined solely by the client’s insurance provider, and Nova Psychology cannot guarantee eligibility or reimbursement. Clients are encouraged to confirm their coverage requirements with their insurance provider prior to beginning services.
