I have been going to Laura off and on now for 7 years and she is amazing. Unfortunately, 6 years ago I became an above knee amputee from a knee replacement. Laura worked with me before the amputation and is there whenever I have needed her since. She listens to me and adapts all the exercises to suit me. I trust her and am very grateful I found her. Not gonna lie…I had very low expectations that physio would do anything to relieve my foot pain. I had been to podiatrists over the years to treat plantar fasciitis, but this was something different. After having nothing show up on xrays, my doctor told me to try physio as a last resort and failing that, she would order an MRI. I couldn’t see how physio would possibly help, but had no choice but to go through the motions. And then I met Laura. During my first appointment and after a lot of various manipulation of my bad foot, she noticed there was zero resistance in two out of three ligaments…apparently the result of a very badly twisted foot/ankle many years earlier. I learned far more from Laura during that first appointment than all the doctors and specialists I’d been to in the past combined. She sent me home that day with so much hope (and some happy tears!). After several visits and doing the exercises she prescribed, I am over-the-moon elated to report that my foot is doing great! I honestly never thought I’d ever be able to say that. I continue to have the true privilege to have Laura support me on my recovery journey. In 2018 I was in an accident where I fell off my husband's motorcycle and injured my right side. At that time I was working with team in Vancouver and on the island. Sadly then another accident happened in 2022 where I fell and broke my hip. My physio was then transitioned to Brightside and working with Laura. Together with my team of physio, acupuncture, rehab 1:1 pilates and now lymphatic drainage physio, which I call "Project Me", the plan on what I need continues to be developed. I am so grateful to work with Laura and all the other members of Project Me, that support me in beautiful ways. To keep me functioning physio is a key part of my life, and always will be.
