Virtual Psychotherapy – FAQs
Is virtual therapy effective?
Yes. Research shows that virtual psychotherapy can be just as effective as in-person therapy for many concerns, including trauma. All you need is a private, quiet space, a stable internet connection, and a device with a camera and microphone. Sessions are conducted using a secure, privacy-compliant platform to protect your confidentiality.
Are my sessions covered by insurance?
As members of the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers, who are legally permitted to perform the Controlled Act of Psychotherapy, our services should be covered by all insurance companies. Once you pay for your session, you should be issued a receipt which can be submitted to your insurance company for reimbursement. However, some insurance providers have their own (unjust) policies, so we recommend that you double check that your specific policy covers services offered by a ‘social worker’.
What if i need to cancel or reschedule an appointment?
We understand that life happens and are happy to re-book appointments when needed. However, cancellations made with less that 24-hour notice may be subject to a late fee.
