“Staff and service was great. Very thorough exam. My only suggestion is to provide a stool or some kind of way to sit at the counter. People with mobility issues or injuries are standing at the counter while the staff sit down.”

“My family MD. referred and called ahead, and I Lost my left eye vision for slow service to a specialist, no response to the matter even after I emailed the loss, I live in a remote area and it ain't easy, especially when the roads are closed due to wildfires. “I was surprised at how poor customer service was after a good experience the first time. In the early afternoon of April 2, 2026, we stood in line to re-book an eye exam. Front desk clerks were busy, so we waited patiently in line at reception for someone to serve us. After waiting over 10 minutes, a staff member arrived at the second booking desk and looked at my friend and myself, then asked the 3rd person in line behind us if they could help them! The staff member was told by their co-worker that we hadn’t been served, yet there was no apology from that worker who didn’t directly ask us if we had already been served. Prior to booking an appointment for an eye exam (which my friend had previously missed) she was asked to put a deposit of $50. before they would book the appointment. My friend paid the deposit. I inquired about how much the eye exam fees are, and what was covered for seniors and their extended benefits. The worker told us that a routine eye exam was $195. after all government and extended coverage was taken into account. This didn’t sound right. Every senior (65+) is covered in BC for one full routine eye exam every 12 months. For other coverage, like those with extended benefits from Pacific Blue Cross, eye exams are covered once every 2 years. Coordination of benefits, especially for seniors who are surviving on a pension and OAS are commonplace and should be easy to calculate. However the receptionist was unable to provide the correct information about fees, which was confusing to the client. Seniors with this kind of coverage should be given the correct information about the final charges they should expect for a routine eye exam prescription. The previous appointment for a 'frame try-on session' was with a wonderful young woman, who was great and helpful, and the frames we selected were put aside. We asked if we could look at the frames which had been put aside from the previous appointment, but this worker would only put a note in the file on the computer. After we requested again, this worker disappeared and never came back to the front desk as we waited and waited. I asked their co-worker what was going on, and they didn’t know. Eventually another co-worker came out and talked to us, and assured us that everything would be taken care of. She was very kind and helpful and helped turn a negative experience into a positive one through her empathy and action to ‘make things right’. “I recently brought my daughter, who is just over a year old, to Valley Vision for her eye appointment and had such a great experience. Troy was amazing with her..so patient and gentle and he explained everything really clearly so I understood what he was checking and why. This was my second time visiting, and once again the whole experience was wonderful. The clinic has such a friendly, welcoming vibe, and the staff make you feel comfortable right away.
