Abner Brown
À propos de Abner
Dans ses motsI am a Registered Psychologist with a master’s degree in counselling psychology. I am keenly aware of how our individual experiences, environments and circumstances impact each other and influence us. Through a meaningful and collaborative therapeutic relationship, I provide a safe, genuine and warm environment for individuals to create change in their lives.
I have experience working with diverse people of all backgrounds. I have worked individually with adolescents and adults in areas of depression and mood, anxiety and overwhelm, relationship concerns, self-esteem, gender identity/dysphoria, sexual orientation, grief/loss, suicidal ideation, life transitions, and boundaries. I am particularly interested in working with individuals in the Deaf and Hard-of-Hearing population, I have intimate knowledge of the culture and can provide services in ASL.
I use a person-centred, integrative approach, drawing from different psychological theories and counselling models to better suit the goals, needs, and preferences of my clients. This includes Narrative Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Attachment Theory and Emotionally Focused Therapy. I also utilize skill from Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT) and strength-based solution-focused questioning.
I believe all individuals have an inherent ability to create change, and it takes courage to reach out for support. If you feel I may suit your needs, I encourage you to reach out to discuss if I might be a good fit to support the change you are searching for.
