Dans ses motsAlicia is a Registered Social Worker (RSW) with a Master of Social Work (MSW) degree from University of Toronto as well as a Bachelor of Social Work degree and Minor in Political Science (BSW) from Toronto Metropolitan University. Alicia also has training in EMDR, aging, dementia care, and caregiving, group therapy facilitation, as well as grief, loss and bereavement.
Working from a relational, culturally-inclusive, and trauma-informed approach, Alicia centers her therapy work around fostering a genuine, caring, and trustworthy relationship with her clients. Alicia recognizes the value of creating a safe, judgement free, and open space for her clients to be their full selves and navigate through their healing journey at a pace that feels right for them.
Alicia is passionate about working with people across the life course, from young adults to seniors. She specializes in supporting individuals and caregivers impacted by dementia and cognitive impairment, as well as those navigating loss, grief, and bereavement. She also has extensive knowledge in working with hypervigilance and anxiety, numbness and dissociation, trauma and PTSD, family conflict and relationship issues, and chronic stress and burnout.
With first hand experience as a health care worker, Alicia is also devoted to working with and empowering first responders, nurses, physicians, and other healthcare professionals to face and cope with the operational stress and vicarious trauma that comes from their line of work.
Alicia recognizes the importance of the mind-body connection and that the body does indeed keep the score. As well, Alicia is committed to anti-oppressive practice and social justice activism. In session, she will guide you in unpacking and understanding the impacts societal systems and structures have on our body, nervous system, and overall well being.
Alicia will embrace and show compassion toward every part of you. She will provide the therapeutic care and tools you need to find inner-harmony, wisdom, and self-worth, to establish an accepting, loving, and supportive community around you, and to flourish into your best self.
