About Alina
My acupuncture practice focuses primarily on the treatment of musculoskeletal conditions - restoring optimal muscle tone and length, relieving pain and tension, and optimizing your body's ability to move well.
Conditions that respond well to my style of treatment include, but are not limited to, muscle pain and spasm, acute and chronic injuries, myofascial dysfunction, and postural imbalances.
Treatments typically involve the placement of 5-20 needles at various depths with the goal of creating tissue change that addresses the underlying musculoskeletal imbalance.
While positive changes are often seen after the first session, complete resolution usually requires a commitment to consistent treatment over a period of time - ranging from 3-4 weeks to several months depending on the severity and chronicity of the condition. A treatment plan with recommended frequency and expected course of treatment will be provided after your initial visit.
In addition to traditional needling, I frequently use electro-acupuncture, which can accelerate resolution of musculoskeletal conditions and offers additional benefits over needling alone. Complementary modalities may include cupping, Gua Sha, and soft tissue techniques. I may also offer nutrition and lifestyle guidance, including specific exercise prescriptions, to support your recovery and empower lasting change.
I hold dual qualifications as a Registered Acupuncturist (R.Ac.) with the CCHP of BC and a Registered Herbal Therapist (RHT) with the BCHA, and currently serve as a BCHA board member. My diverse educational background has given me a broad understanding of many health conditions, and while my acupuncture practice centres on musculoskeletal pathology, I have also had success treating insomnia, digestive concerns, fatigue, hormonal imbalances, and stress-related conditions.
