I am a registered social worker in St. John’s, NL. I am a graduate of both Memorial University and the Dalhousie University School of Social Work. I have over two decades of experience supporting children, youth, and adults through an array of life’s challenges; adverse childhood experiences (ACEs), attachment histories, traumatic experiences, and the impacts of substance use, separation, and divorce. My work experiences have brought unique opportunities for crisis management planning, collaborating with Indigenous communities, and developing culturally responsive practices.
Within my work with Mind Body Therapy Connection at Flourish, I bring an abundance of knowledge, skill, and experience in childhood trauma, mental health crisis, emotional regulation, and healing from traumatic stress issues. I have specialized training in evidence-based approaches including Trauma-Informed Care, Accelerated Resolution Therapy (A.R.T), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy-Insomnia (CBT-I), and Somatic Therapy. My approach is deeply rooted in the integration of education about the mind–body connection in counselling. My goal is to help people understand that trauma and stress are embodied, in sleep disturbances, responses, tightness, tension, and exhaustion when reacting as if still in danger from a previous threat. My focus is on the healing that can happen now.
I offer services to support healing and address:
Trauma processing
Sleep disturbances
Stress management and burnout for professionals
Vicarious Trauma and Compassion Fatigue
Goal directed cognitive thinking
Nervous system regulation for children and youth
Mental wellness and mental health protection
I listen to your needs to help you set clear goals for your wellness journey. Sessions may include approaches such as A.R.T, somatic experiencing and movement, Vagus Nerve exercises, as well as grounding and mindfulness practices.
I offer virtual, phone, and in-person appointments.
