She is an AMI accredited Assistant to Infancy, and a Canadian Alliance certified E-RYT500.
A class with Amy leaves expectant and new parents with the good information necessary to turn vulnerability into confidence. The confidence to ask necessary questions about care, and to participate in decision making in an empowered way.
Amy has two grown children with her husband of 25 years. She recently returned to Calgary after spending 3 years in Nebraska where she and her husband moved to help her father care for her mother with Alzheimer’s. Amy’s skills and talents were put to use in a different way, in another spectrum of life, providing her with perspective and growth. The challenges we meet from the most honest and vulnerable place inside ourselves truly demonstrate that the only way out, is through.

« This is a Date Night childbirth refresher course designed for couples not needing the 4 week series and looking for a fun night to connect and re-learn the information from your first baby.
A workshop suitable for couples (husband, partner, sister, mom, doula – anyone who will be with you at your birth) at any stage of pregnancy, who wish to deepen their knowledge of pregnancy, labour and birth
We’ll cover topics including:
- The physiologic processes of labour and birth, and practice hands-on comfort measures, postures conducive to good positioning of baby, and postures conducive to deep relaxation and support of mother, including massage, relaxation and visualization
- Discussion of common interventions and other concerns.
- The confident presence and loving encouragement of a husband or partner is a powerful aid to normal labour and birth. »Prenatal Childbirth Class with Amy - 4 wk series
« 4 week childbirth education class covering the following topics
- Pelvic anatomy and basic movements of the pelvis which help us understand why hands-on labour comfort measures work.
- Labour comfort measures as well as relaxation techniques
- Learn the physiology of labour so that when labour starts, the sensations of contractions, and baby's descent and rotation are expected rather than surprising
Once the baby's journey is understood, we cover what it is like for us, physically (positions and hands-on support for comfort), mentally (how our thoughts affect our physiology) and emotionally (emotional signposts through labour and how to hold space), and how we'll find support on all of those levels. We talk about variations and unexpected situations, typical interventions, when and why they are offered. Pushing and physiologic pushing, placentas, umbilical cords, and the postpartum period from birth through at least the first month. We discuss babies from head to toe, breastfeeding and the excellent breastfeeding resources in the area.
Always with plenty of time for questions, concerns, and support. »Facturation directe — non publiée
