Anita Petrovic
À propos de Anita
Dans ses motsI am a compassionate and experienced counsellor specializing in helping individuals overcome various mental health challenges, work-related injuries, and life transitions. Having worked with a variety of clients with physical and mental challenges over the years, the strength and resilience of the human spirit remains one of the most inspiring aspects of my work. I am dedicated to empowering clients to regain their mental and emotional well-being, and achieve their personal goals.
I hold a Masters of Education (MEd) in Vocational Rehabilitation Counselling from the University of British Columbia (UBC). I also obtained a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) in Psychology from Simon Fraser University (SFU), with a special focus in rehabilitation. I have worked in the vocational rehabilitation field for the past 8 years, helping individuals return to work in a wide variety of contexts (e.g., corrections, nursing and other healthcare areas, and firefighting). I also have experience as a psychometrist, completing psychological and vocational testing for psychologists conducting assessments.
With over a decade of experience working with clients of various cultures and ages, utilizing approaches such as Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), I am skilled at establishing strong, trusting rapport with individuals from all walks of life. My work focuses on helping clients navigate anxiety, depression, grief, pain, occupational stress, and self-esteem while improving their ability to manage their mood, draw on strengths, and transition through difficult periods. My non-judgmental, accepting, and strength-based approach ensures a safe space for clients to explore their challenges and work toward lasting, positive change.
Anita is currently accepting new counselling clients in-person and via telehealth. She is also providing psychological testing services to our practice's clinical psychologists.
