Brett J. Wade, PT is a registered physiotherapist with over 25 years of clinical experience. Brett graduated from UBC with a B.Sc. in Physical Therapy. After graduation, he practiced in Kelowna for a year before moving to work in a private practice in Colorado. Brett traveled and worked in private clinics across the United States from Hawaii to Pennsylvania. He started a master's degree in Physical Therapy at Andrew's University in Michigan. He completed this degree in 2001. His research examined the effectiveness of core stability exercises in people with fibromyalgia.
Upon returning to Canada in 2000, Brett opened a private practice in Kelowna, BC. He sold his interests in the company in 2003 to take a teaching position at Okanagan College. Brett continued to treat patients part-time while teaching full-time and started work on a PhD in 2005 through Rutgers University. His interest in chronic disease and the environment shaped his dissertation title: "The Geomagnetic Field and Correlations with Multiple Sclerosis: A Possible Etiology for Disease." Brett successfully defended his doctorate in 2012. He continues to teach full-time at Okanagan College and treats patients in the evenings at MotionWorx Physiotherapy in Kelowna, BC. Brett has a special interest in chronic pain and concussions.
Outside of work Brett loves running and cycling and is a completely addicted Zwifter. He also enjoys camping, cooking, gardening, and anything outdoors that can be paired with wine.

« We are experienced in concussion management ranging from acute to chronic post-concussions. We treat a combination of factors that contribute to an often difficult return to normal life.
We may screen for presenting signs and symptoms, and treat those impairments which are responsive to physiotherapy management. Treatment planning and exercise prescription support the individual’s return-to-play/return-to-activity progression. As dizziness and headaches may also be reported following concussion, as well as in cervical and vestibular disorders, physiotherapy assessment can help differentiate the origin of these symptoms and determine the appropriate management strategy. »

« An initial assessment should be booked for any new injury/issue related to a motor vehicle accident, regardless of whether you are a returning or new client to MotionWorx. If it has been >3 months since your accident ICBC may require a doctor referral for physiotherapy. This visit will include a full history, a comprehensive objective physical assessment, goal setting, treatment plan, education and a treatment. Your therapist will send the appropriate documentation to ICBC and communicate as needed with your adjuster. »
