À propos de Brian
Dans ses motsHi, my name is Brian Der! My path to becoming a physiotherapist wasn’t exactly a direct one – it took a bit of time and a lot of discovery. I completed my undergraduate degree in Mechanical Engineering at the University of Alberta and even worked as an engineer for six years before realizing that it wasn’t truly my passion. That realization brought me back to the University of Alberta to pursue a Master’s of Science in Physical Therapy.
Physiotherapy has been a natural fit. Sports have always been a big role in my life, as I grew up playing high-level basketball and volleyball, and played two years of volleyball at Grant MacEwan. Today, I can honestly say I love being a physiotherapist intern and being able to combine my love of movement, problem solving, and helping others.
I understand that everyone’s lives, goals, and interests are unique, and I tailor treatment plans to reflect that. Getting to know my patients is one of the most important parts of the process, allowing us to work together towards meaningful and personalized outcomes. I’m passionate about empowering patients through education, evidence-based treatments, and personalized rehabilitation strategies to help them return to the activities they love. During my clinical education, I gained valuable experience in orthopedic private practice as well as neurological rehabilitation, including vestibular conditions, traumatic brain injury, concussion, stroke, and spinal cord injury. I'd love to be a part of your rehabilitation team and help you achieve your goals!
Outside of the clinic, you can find me walking my dog, rock climbing, playing volleyball or basketball, skiing, watching sports, or spending time with my family and friends.
