She has been a teacher for the past twelve years, mostly working with students aged 13-18. She spent the early years of her career teaching in China and Korea and eventually became a teacher in Richmond. She taught drama and English, has directed plays and musicals and has worked as a case manager for students with learning disabilities, autism, ADHD, and anxiety.
Brittany believes that the most important thing when working with students is the relationship that you build together. As a drama teacher, she ensured that her classroom was a safe space for students to explore, take risks and be themsevles. She created a safe space for students of all backgrounds, abilities, ethnicities, sexual orientations, and gender identities. She has seen how important it is for children and teenagers to feel safe and supported in a classroom and works to bring this same environment into her counselling sessions.
Brittany’s first priority is to connect with the client and ensure that she is a good fit to work with them. She has worked with children and teenagers who are dealing with: loss, addictions, anxiety, perfectionism, depression, identity, relationships with family and friends, and bullying. She has worked with teenagers using CBT and role play and is continuing to learn new ways to support clients and work with their individual needs.
