Physical Therapist | PT BScPT A sports injury and subsequent treatment by a highly skilled Physical Therapist (PT), inspired Caroline (Carol) to pursue a career in physical therapy herself. She feels it's been the perfect fit and still loves her work after 30+ years in practice. Education | Experience Carol graduated from the *University of Alberta* in 1987 with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Physical Therapy. Carol has over 30 years of experience in clinical practice and in leading teams of physical therapists and other rehabilitation professionals in various healthcare settings. Carol believes that the best patient outcomes are achieved through a collaborative approach to care and by taking the time to listen, observe and carefully assess a patient to understand what is most important to them. She feels it is a privilege to assist patients achieve their goals and regain their function and quality of life Areas of Expertise Much of Carol’s clinical experience and interest has been within specialized clinical settings treating both adults and children with complex injuries and conditions. Her clinical interests include: - post-trauma & post- surgical orthopaedics - sports medicine - stroke rehab - post-trauma & post-surgical hand therapy - acute and chronic pain management - paediatrics Interspersed with her work as a Physical Therapist, Carol has worked as Physical Therapy Professional Practice Lead at the University of Alberta Hospital Campus, sessional instructor at MacEwan University and online educator at Norquest College in addition to developing curriculum for both institutions' Therapy Assistant programs. Carol has taken numerous courses and received advanced training in many aspects of physical therapy including: - Orthopaedic Assessment & treatment - Advanced manual therapy - McKenzie spinal assessment and treatment - Mulligan Manual Therapy Technique - Maitland Manual Therapy - Butler Mobilization of the Nervous System - Hand therapy – post-trauma, post surgical - Vestibular Rehabilitation & Concussion Management - Neurodevelopmental therapy - Myofascial Pain Release - Paediatric assessment & treatment Carol has also volunteered at various sporting events including the *Junior Men’s World Basketball Championships* and the Alberta Summer and Winter Games. Interests Carol rarely stays idle and spends her free time hosting dinner parties for family and friends, losing herself in her perennial gardens, and using participation in international sporting events as an excuse to travel!.
