Cherry graduated from the University of Hong Kong with a 5-year Bachelor Degree in Traditional Chinese Medicine and a 2-year Master Degree in Acupuncture, Moxibustion, and Tui Na. Following her studies and research in acupuncture for three years, she earned her Doctorate Degree in Acupuncture, Moxibustion, and Tui Na from the Guangzhou University of Chinese Medicine.
In addition to her formal education, Cherry is deeply grateful to her numerous clinical teachers in Traditional Chinese Medicine and acupuncture, who have significantly influenced her journey. Their dedication and guidance have shaped her into the acupuncturist she is today.
Cherry’s career path was inspired by destiny and great teachers. Raised in a family with generations of medical background in both Traditional Chinese Medicine and Western medicine, her maternal grandfather and uncle were Chinese medicine doctors, while her father was trained in Western medicine. Her first encounter with acupuncture occurred at birth when her mother faced prolonged difficulties during delivery. Although her father expected her to become a doctor like her brother, Cherry did not develop an interest in medicine until she met her enlightening teacher, Yang Tong, who vividly articulated the fundamental philosophy and principles of Traditional Chinese Medicine.
Initially, Cherry pursued Chinese medicine as a side interest until the sudden passing of her father from a stroke transformed her grief into determination. She returned to school to study Chinese medicine, and after completing her bachelor’s and master’s degrees, she met her acupuncture teacher, Lin Liang Chuan, who elevated her understanding of symptoms and body structure. With the delicate palpation and acupuncture skills she acquired, Cherry is committed to empowering individuals to find a second wind in their health.
Cherry chose to work at Treloar because she resonates with the clinic’s commitment to exceptional care tailored to individual needs, along with its focus on innovative treatment, empowerment, and education. She shares Treloar’s mission of ensuring that every person who walks through the doors leaves feeling better than they arrived, appreciating that few clinics have successfully upheld this standard for over 40 years.
Passionate about harmony with nature, nurturing home cooking with fresh local produce, and promoting ownership of recovery, Cherry believes that healing begins with active participation. She emphasizes that good health starts with the foundation: the foot.
