About Christine
Christine McCarthy, a Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying), brings a grounded and compassionate approach to her practice, drawing from her diverse background in healthcare, education, and navigating personal life transitions. Her experiences inspire a passion for accompanying clients with curiosity and empathy as they face change, challenges, and personal growth. Christine views therapy as a space where individuals can pause, reset, and begin to show up as their most authentic selves.
Having spent many years in both healthcare and education, Christine ultimately felt drawn to psychotherapy, the work that has always resonated deeply with her. She believes that learning is not defined by age and continues to embrace growth as a lifelong learner within this field. Christine recognizes that life transitions are an inherent part of the human experience, some of which are welcomed, others challenging and painful. Her own journey through significant transitions, coupled with the insights gained from lived experience, enables her to provide steady, grounded support to adults navigating health changes, retirement, and evolving relationships.
Christine’s therapeutic work with individuals navigating life transitions is designed to help clients find clarity, confidence, and calm amidst major changes. As an attentive, engaged listener, she helps clients focus on the issues most important to them, providing compassionate support that fosters resilience.
Christine employs a range of person-centred therapeutic approaches, carefully tailored to each client’s unique needs, with a preference for an Integrative Psychotherapeutic model. Her methods include compassion-focused therapy, mindfulness, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Solution-Focused Therapy, somatic experiencing, and Emotion-Focused Therapy.
