About Ciara
Ciara is a registered clinical counsellor (RCC) with the BC Association of Clinical Counsellors.
Ciara graduated with a BA (Hons) in Psychology, with a minor in Humanities, and a Religious Studies Certificate from Simon Fraser University in 2018. She completed her Masters degree in Clinical Counselling at City U in Vancouver, BC in 2024.
Ciara has over a decade of experience working in the field of mental health and substance use. She has worked in a variety of settings, including residential, community, and inpatient
psychiatric care, and has worked supporting youth, adults, and families. Ciara strives to provide a safe and supportive space for all clients, including individuals from diverse faith and cultural backgrounds, as well as those who identify as 2SLGBTQIA+.
As a counsellor, Ciara actively strives to utilize a non-judgmental, client-centred, harm reduction,
and anti-oppressive approach while empowering clients to understand and navigate the complex systems we all exist in. Ciara specializes in providing services to individuals who may be struggling with concerns such as borderline personality disorder (BPD), mood disorders (anxiety/depression), OCD, schizophrenia and other psychotic disorders, substance use, ADHD, and difficulty with emotion regulation. Ciara also has training in cognitive behavioural therapy for insomnia (CBT-I). Ciara takes an eclectic approach, tailored to the individual needs of the client. Some of the modalities she uses include dialectical behavioural therapy (DBT), cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT), motivational interviewing (MI), solution-focused brief therapy (SFBT), exposure response prevention (ERP) and acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT). Ciara also has experience in suicide/self-harm/crisis assessment and intervention.
