Curtis graduated from the University of Manitoba with a Bachelor’s degree in Kinesiology in 2014 and then went on to complete his Master of Physical Therapy in 2016. Since graduating he has gone on to take extensive post graduate training in areas of manual therapy and advanced exercise prescription which has profoundly shaped his clinical practice.
Curtis has always been involved in sports and activities and enjoys looking for new challenges. He began lifting weights consistently in middle school and has had a love for weight training since then. Alongside his university studies, he set out to practice Taekwondo, achieving the rank of first degree blackbelt. His passion for activity was a major influence in his path to becoming a physiotherapist, as well as a love of learning and a strong desire to help others.
Curtis believes strongly in developing an individualized plan centred around goals that are meaningful to his patients. He is passionate about educating his patients so that they have a good understanding and clear direction in their rehabilitation plan. He regards exercise as one of the most powerful ways in which he can influence his patients’ health and, with a primarily active approach, works hard to help others achieve their goals, promote independence, and foster resilience.
Curtis’s love for education extends well beyond his direct clinical involvement. From 2015-2020, he served as a board member of the MB- Section of Sport Physiotherapy Canada, where his primary role as the education chair was to bring in high-quality continuing education courses and speakers to therapists in the community. He has also served as a clinical supervisor and mentor for several physiotherapy students and physiotherapy exam candidates.
Curtis has a wealth of clinical experience working in multidisciplinary environments and places a high value on interprofessional collaboration to ensure patients receive the highest level of care possible.
