About Darren
Hi, I'm Darren Dyal. I'm a Canadian Certified Counsellor (CCC #11253753) with a Master's Degree in Counselling Psychology. For the past seven years, I have had the privilege of supporting individuals, couples, and families as they navigate life's challenges. I strive to create a space where clients feel safe, supported, understood, and able to show up exactly as they are. I believe meaningful change happens through a collaborative therapeutic relationship built on trust, authenticity, and compassion.
I work with clients experiencing anxiety, depression, stress, emotional overwhelm, self-esteem concerns, relationship difficulties, life transitions, borderline personality disorder (BPD), substance use concerns, and personal growth. I also have experience supporting neurodivergent individuals, including those with ADHD, Autism, and AuDHD. I recognize that every person's experiences are unique, and I tailor therapy to each client's individual strengths, goals, and needs.
My clinical approach is evidence-based and draws from Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), Emotion-Focused Family Therapy (EFFT), the Gottman Method for couples therapy, and Motivational Interviewing. Whether we're working to better understand emotions, strengthen relationships, build healthier coping strategies, or create lasting behavioral change, my goal is to provide practical tools that clients can carry with them beyond our sessions.
I also have a special interest in supporting individuals experiencing substance use and behavioral addictions, including concerns related to alcohol, drugs, problematic video gaming, and compulsive sexualized behaviors. I believe recovery looks different for everyone, and I meet clients where they are—whether they are exploring change, reducing their use, pursuing abstinence, or maintaining recovery.
