In their own words
Hi, My name is Doreen. I am a Registered Social Worker and therapist with a Master of Social Work (MSW) degree, Bachelor of Social Work (BSW) degree, and a Social Service Worker (SSW) Diploma. I bring over four years of experience in hospital and community mental health, supporting people navigating anxiety, depression, ADHD, chronic pain, burnout, and overwhelm, including those with concurrent disorders, trauma histories, and developmental disabilities. I provide neurodivergent-affirming care, helping people build skills, explore their identity, strengthen executive functioning, and feel more confident in their place in the world.
I have completed training in Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT) Skills, and Motivational Interviewing. Therapy may involve building practical coping strategies, exploring patterns in thoughts and emotions, clarifying values, and developing routines that feel more sustainable and aligned with your life. At the same time, I bring a flexible, integrative approach, weaving in mindfulness, experiential exercises, and reflective practices for those who prefer a more holistic or exploratory style.
As a Filipino-Canadian therapist, I am especially mindful of how culture, migration, family expectations, and stigma can shape mental health experiences. I strive to offer a space that is affirming, curious, and respectful of your lived experience particularly if you’ve felt pressure to carry things on your own or struggled with fitting in.
My therapeutic style is warm, relational, and engaged. I value building genuine connection while also offering structure and direction when it feels helpful. I am committed to ongoing learning and growth as a clinician, with a developing interest in somatic and body-based approaches to support healing from the bottom up.
If you’re looking for a therapist who is collaborative, culturally responsive, and grounded in evidence-based practice, I would be honoured to support you.
