In their own words
How did you get into health and wellness?
Avin's passion for health and wellness began long before chiropractic school. She completed an Honours Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology at McMaster University because she was fascinated by how the body moves and adapts. That interest led her to pursue my Doctor of Chiropractic degree at the Canadian Memorial Chiropractic College (CMCC), where she developed a deeper appreciation for helping people overcome pain, improve movement, and live more active lives. Being part of the Sweat and Tonic community has shaped her perspective on healthcare and reinforced her belief that wellness is about much more than treating pain. It's about creating healthy habits, moving consistently, prioritizing recovery, and investing in yourself before injuries occur. Avin is excited to now be able to support members in a space that has already had such a positive impact on her own health journey.
What does wellness mean to Avin:
To Avin, wellness is about finding balance. It isn't just the absence of pain, it's feeling strong, moving confidently, recovering well, managing stress, sleeping better, and having the energy to do the things you love every day. Avin believes wellness looks different for everyone, which is why she take an individualized approach to care. Whether your goal is to train for a race, keep up with your kids, improve your workouts, or simply wake up without pain, her goal is to help you move better and feel your best for the long term.
What to expect in a session:
Your first visit starts with a thorough conversation about your health history, lifestyle, and goals, followed by a movement assessment and physical examination. She wants to understand not only where you're experiencing pain, but why it's happening. From there, you'll create a personalized treatment plan together. Depending on your needs, treatment may include hands-on manual therapy, spinal and joint mobilizations or adjustments, acupuncture and dry needling, soft tissue therapy, cupping, Instrument Assisted Soft Tissue Therapy (IASTM), and exercise-based rehabilitation. She'll also provide education and practical strategies that you can incorporate into your daily routine to help you recover and stay healthy.
How you will feel after a session:
Everyone responds differently to treatment, but many patients leave feeling less stiff, more mobile, and with a greater sense of ease in their movement. Some people notice immediate improvements, while others experience gradual changes over the course of treatment as their body adapts. You may feel mild soreness after certain treatments, similar to how you might feel after a good workout, but this is typically short-lived. Her goal is for every session to leave you moving with more confidence and progressing toward your personal health goals.
