About Colin
I am continually inspired by the people I work with—individuals from a wide array of backgrounds and walks of life, each carrying a unique and compelling story, often shaped by honesty, vulnerability, and a deep desire for change. I approach each person’s experience with respect and openness, recognizing the courage it takes to show up and speak about what truly matters.
At the heart of my work is a deep compassion for connecting with people in an authentic and meaningful way. I strive to bring warmth, genuineness, and presence into each therapeutic relationship, creating a space where clients feel safe to explore challenges, strengths, and possibilities for growth. Grounded in science-based, evidence-informed interventions within the cognitive-behavioural therapy umbrella, we strive to alleviate suffering, improve day-to-day functioning, and enhance overall quality of life. Together, we work collaboratively to foster new skills, resilience, and lasting change.
With over 20 years of experience supporting adults with a wide range of challenges, I started at Tall Tree Health in 2022 and have valued the opportunity to work alongside a team of skilled and vibrant healthcare professionals. Prior to arriving in Victoria, I had the privilege of working as a clinical psychologist at Kelowna General Hospital and the Mental Health and Substance Use unit from 2005 to 2022, providing assessment as well as individual and group treatment. While at Kelowna General Hospital, I also served as clinical instructor for the UBC Southern Medical Program and an adjunct professor in the Clinical Psychology program at UBC Okanagan. I enjoyed teaching but also learning from medical students and graduate psychology students. In addition to my other roles, I provided psychological support for workers recovering from workplace injuries in the Occupation Rehabilitation Program at the hospital. I have an abiding interest in helping people recover to thrive in their workplace.
Away from the clinic, I can often be found on a court with racquet in hand, tramping on paths of breathtaking beauty, puttering around the yard getting my hands dirty, or simply enjoying time with people I cherish.
And, in answer to an often-asked question: Nope, I didn’t change my name as a slick marketing strategy! Same name on my birth certificate.
