Dr. Wayne Terai believes in helping patients achieve their optimum health and wellness goals through a variety of treatment techniques that incorporate chiropractic care, lasery therapy, nutritional, exercise and lifestyle counselling
Dr. Wayne grew up in Kelowna, BC. He attended the University of British Columbia to complete a Bachelor of Science degree in 1989, with a major in Biology. He went on to study Medical Laboratory Science at the UBC Department of Medicine.
While studying, he was involved in two motor vehicle accidents which left him unable to sit or stand for long periods of time due to chronic and recurrent back pain. After much convincing by his brother Mark (who is now also a Doctor of Chiropractic), he sought care at a chiropractor's office and had excellent results. Impressed with his great results, he spent the rest of the school year "shadowing" both chiropractors and medical doctors in their offices to find out what they do on a day-to-day basis. Realizing that the philosophy of chiropractic and its focus on health and wellness resonated with him much more than the sickness care model of the medical setting, he decided to pursue a chiropractic career. That fall, he attended the Canadian Memorial Chiropractic College in Toronto, Ontario and graduated with a Doctor of Chiropractic degree in 1994.
Missing Kelowna and the lifestyle the Okanagan offered while he was away, he returned to begin his career at Burtch Chiropractic. Burtch Chiropractic has been helping Okanagan families to live healthy and drug-free for over 23 years.
