Dans ses motsGillian Kirkwood is an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC) with a Bachelor of Science in Biological Sciences from the University of Guelph. After a career in clinical trial management and the birth of her own children, she decided to change paths to work with parents and infants within the healthcare sector. This prompted Gillian to return to school to complete the breastfeeding program at Mohawk College, and complete hundreds of clinical hours to be eligible to sit for the IBCLC exam.
Gillian is passionate about providing non-judgemental, empathetic care and meeting clients where they are in terms of their feeding goals. Whether it's breast, chest, formula or combination feeding, Gillian is well equipped to help caregivers feel empowered, and give them the tools to succeed on their own terms.
Gillian currently lives in Burlington with her partner, two children, dog and cat. When she's not working you will find Gillian spending time with friends and family, reading, or simply enjoying quiet moments at home.

The class will assist you in establishing a breastfeeding relationship with your baby(ies) from birth and troubleshoot any challenges that may arise.

• how skin to skin contact helps establish breastfeeding
• where breastmilk comes from and how to ensure a great supply
• the essentials of knowing how to express breastmilk
• what is 'normal' newborn breastfeeding behaviour

• what to do in special situations (jaundice, hypoglycemia, weight loss)
