CURRENTLY NOT ACCEPTING NEW CLIENTS
As a College of Alberta Registered Psychologist, I strive to meet the counselling needs of adults, couples, families, and teens struggling with issues stemming from their experience of anxiety, depression, trauma, grief, separation and divorce, parenting, family functioning, workplace problems, work/life balance, couples with relationship challenges, pre-marriage considerations, and wellness struggles.
I strive to utilize various approaches from the perspective of matching interventions to individuals according to their self-described needs. I hold to the assertion that people only know what they know and that explorations in how they think, feel, and behave open them to growth in their respective areas of knowing. I am very honored to have received affirmations from the people I serve and my colleagues that I am a very pleasant, present and caring individual who provides people with the problem solving content needed to improve their circumstances and to manage their problem situation/s by facilitating their ability to access their unused resources and opportunities for learning and growth.
Personal Background: Since it is very important that there is a “good fit” between psychologists and the people they serve, the following is a brief background that I hope will give you more information about me that I hope will help you determine whether you think that I am someone with whom you can establish a strong psycho-therapeutic relationship.
I grew up on a farm in southern Manitoba. I enjoyed being part of a large family who valued family, friends, community, church, hard work, and the great outdoors. When I moved to Calgary, I worked as a Fitness Instructor and Personal Trainer with the City of Calgary while raising my children with my husband. I have also held positions with Alberta Health Services (at the Family Caregiver Centre, and The Calgary Board of Education (at the Teacher’s Resource Centre).
I received a Social Work Diploma from the Assiniboine Community College in Brandon, Manitoba. I completed a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Psychology from the University of Calgary. I then completed a Master of Counselling Degree from the Campus Alberta Applied Psychology Program (a University of Calgary, Athabasca University, and University of Lethbridge Collaboration) with a Specialization in Counselling Psychology in 2006. I have been an active College of Alberta Registered Psychologist since 2008.
