Massage
« Will be $105 + GST starting January 1, 2026 »4 optionsMassage with Myofascial Cupping
« Myofascial cupping is a gentle yet highly effective manual therapy technique designed to release tension, improve circulation, and restore mobility in the muscles and fascia. Using specialized silicone or glass cups, negative pressure is applied to lift the tissues rather than compress them—creating space, encouraging fluid movement, and reducing restrictions that contribute to pain and dysfunction.
During the treatment, your therapist will glide or place cups on specific areas of tension, allowing the fascia to decompress and the muscles to soften. This helps:
Relieve chronic muscle tightness
Improve range of motion
Reduce inflammation and fascial adhesions
Enhance lymphatic flow and detoxification
Promote deep relaxation and overall wellbeing
Cupping can be integrated into a therapeutic massage or offered as a focused stand-alone session, depending on your needs. Mild temporary markings may occur, indicating increased circulation and fascial release.
This treatment is ideal for clients experiencing stiffness, reduced mobility, chronic pain, athletic tension, or those seeking a deeper yet non-invasive approach to healing.
Contraindications
Myofascial cupping is not recommended in the following situations:
Absolute Contraindications
Acute infections, fever, or active inflammatory conditions
Open wounds, ulcers, burns, or active skin infections
Over varicose veins
Active cancer or undergoing active chemotherapy/radiation (unless cleared by physician)
Severe cardiac conditions or uncontrolled hypertension
Deep vein thrombosis (DVT) or history of blood clots
Bleeding disorders (e.g., hemophilia) or clients taking high-dose anticoagulants
Recent surgery (until cleared by healthcare provider)
Relative Contraindications
(Cupping may be used with caution or modified techniques)
Thin, fragile, or easily bruised skin
Diabetes with impaired sensation or poor tissue healing
Pregnancy (avoid abdomen and certain points; light cupping only)
Areas with recent sunburn
Clients with sensory deficits or neuropathy
Severe edema
Immediately after vigorous exercise
Your therapist will assess your health history to determine if cupping is safe and appropriate for you, and will adjust treatment accordingly. »Prenatal Massage
« Prenatal massage is generally safe and beneficial for most pregnancies when performed by a trained Registered Massage Therapist. However, certain conditions require extra care, medical clearance, or may be contraindicated.
Prenatal massage cannot be performed if any of the following are present:
* High-risk pregnancy without medical clearance
* Preeclampsia or pregnancy-induced hypertension
* Deep vein thrombosis (DVT) or blood clots
* Severe edema with sudden onset
* Active vaginal bleeding or placental complications (e.g., placenta previa, placental abruption)
* Signs of preterm labour
* Fever, infection, or contagious illness

Prenatal massage may be provided with caution and healthcare provider approval if the client has:
* History of miscarriage or preterm labour
* Gestational diabetes
* High or low blood pressure
* Varicose veins or circulatory concerns
* Pregnancy-related anemia
* Sciatic pain or pelvic girdle pain
* Recent surgery or injury
* Multiple pregnancies (twins or more)
To ensure comfort and safety:
* Side-lying positioning is used; clients are never positioned flat on their back for extended periods
* Pressure is adjusted based on comfort and trimester
* Certain areas (abdomen, inner thighs, specific acupressure points) are avoided or treated gently
* Continuous communication throughout the session
Clients are responsible for informing their therapist of:
* Any changes in their pregnancy or health status
* New symptoms or concerns
* Advice or restrictions given by their healthcare provider
If there is ever uncertainty, we recommend consulting with your midwife, obstetrician, or primary healthcare provider before booking. »Signature Basalt Hot Stones
