Janine Horsley, Registered Physiotherapist - MPT, Bkin, BA
Janine completed her Masters of Physical Therapy at the University of British Columbia (UBC) after earning a Bachelor of Kinesiology from UBC and a Bachelor of Arts in Cape Town. She was drawn to physiotherapy through a longstanding love of anatomy and biomechanics, as well as her own experiences as a competitive swimmer growing up, where physiotherapy played an important role in helping her continue doing a sport she loved.
Prior to becoming a physiotherapist, Janine worked as a personal trainer for 10 years, where she developed a strong foundation in movement education, exercise coaching, and helping people build strength, confidence, and resilience for both performance and everyday life. This experience continues to shape her approach to physiotherapy and her belief in meeting patients where they are in their recovery and movement goals. She has clinical experience in joint replacement rehabilitation, acute care, paediatric conditions, and general musculoskeletal physiotherapy.
Janine believes in working collaboratively with patients and values listening to each individual’s story, goals, and experiences. She tailors treatment plans to each person’s specific needs and combines hands-on treatment, education, movement assessment, and exercise-based rehabilitation to help patients move more confidently, build resilience, and take an active role in their recovery and long-term health. She strives to create a supportive and encouraging environment where rehabilitation feels manageable, sustainable, and realistic within each person’s daily life and goals.
Janine enjoys treating a wide range of musculoskeletal conditions, with particular interests in running and sports injuries, neck, lower back, hip, and SIJ pain, osteoarthritis, active aging, pelvic health, and pre- and post-surgical rehabilitation. She has completed postgraduate training through the Canadian Orthopaedic Division by completing Advanced Integrated Musculoskeletal (AIM) Level 1, as well as Pelvic Health Solutions Level 1 (Urinary Incontinence). Janine is very passionate about continuing her education and plans to continue advancing her education in these areas throughout her career.
Outside of the clinic, Janine enjoys staying active through running, hiking, and strength training, and is currently training for her first half marathon. She can also often be found petting every dog she passes on the street or sampling local coffee shops recommended to her by her patients.
