Jessie Grosz
À propos de Jessie
Dans ses motsJessie Grosz is a Registered Social Worker with over 16 years of experience. She has a Master of Social Work degree from Wilfrid Laurier University and a Bachelor of Social Work degree from Toronto Metropolitan University. Jessie is a member in good standing with the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers (OCSWSSW), and the Ontario Association of Social Workers (OASW).
Jessie’s area of interest includes counselling students and individuals. Jessie's professional experience includes working alongside families in child protection for five years; in addition to providing support to children and youth as both an Adoption Worker and as a Children and Youth Services Worker. Through these roles, Jessie developed a deepened understanding of trauma and attachment and an awareness on how these areas can impact individuals, their relationship with self and others, and also affect mental health and wellbeing.
In 2015, Jessie's social work experience shifted with a new role of supporting students, families and educators, as a School Social Worker. Jessie continues to enjoy this role as it allows for the ability to collaborate, and for the ability to use her skills for a responsive approach in supporting students with mental health struggles.
As a School Social Worker, Jessie is often providing mental health assessments, crisis intervention, safety planning and liaising with community agencies. Jessie has experience in facilitating Safe Talk suicide prevention training, and is passionate about increasing the conversation around suicide, in hopes of reducing stigma, and increasing safety in our community. Over the years as a School Social Worker,
Jessie is a lifelong learner, and is always seeking new learning opportunities to expand her knowledge base and further develop skills. As part of this core value, Jessie has supervised a number of Master of Social Work students over the past several years. Jessie’s practice is an integration of cognitive behavioural therapy, narrative therapy , and solution focused therapy. She practices from an anti-oppressive, strengths-based lens since starting her journey in Social Work and believes in meeting clients where they are at and working alongside clients in their journey.
