In their own words
Joel Brazier holds a Master’s degree in Psychology with Honours, and brings over 17 years of professional experience providing counselling and psychological services across clinical, community, and educational settings, including 7 years in private practice. His work is grounded in evidence-based practice, ethical care, and a collaborative, goal-oriented therapeutic approach.
Throughout his career, Joel has worked extensively within community agencies, school systems, and public healthcare, including roles with NOYFSS (North Okanagan Youth and Family Services Society), within school-based counselling environments, and for the regional health authority. These experiences have provided him with a broad and integrated understanding of mental health across developmental stages and systems of care.
Joel works with youth, young adults, adults, and couples, supporting individuals through concerns such as anxiety, depression, relationship challenges, emotional regulation, self-esteem, and life transitions. He aims to provide a professional, respectful, and supportive therapeutic space that allows for meaningful insight, skill development, and sustainable change.
In addition to clinical counselling, Joel specializes in performance psychology, working with athletes and high-performing individuals to enhance focus, confidence, resilience, stress management, and performance under pressure. He has also been actively involved in basketball coaching for over 10 years, which informs his applied work with athletes, teams, and youth by bridging psychological theory with real-world performance demands.
Joel’s approach emphasizes trust, clarity, and psychological safety, with care tailored to each client’s unique goals and circumstances. Whether addressing mental health concerns, relational dynamics, or performance-related objectives, he is committed to providing thoughtful, evidence-informed support.
