Josh Hulley-Carroll
À propos de Josh
Dans ses motsJoshua Hulley-Carroll is a Registered Social Worker and Psychotherapist who believes that therapy should feel like a conversation with someone who genuinely cares, not a clinical checklist or interrogation. His approach is warm, collaborative, and down-to-earth, grounded in the belief that every person already possesses incredible strength and resilience. Sometimes, it just takes the right person to help them uncover it.
Josh earned his Master of Social Work Degree from Wilfrid Laurier University and his Bachelor of Arts, Honours, Degree in Psychology from Carleton University. For nearly a decade, he has worked with children, youth, adults, couples, and families across a wide range of settings, including private practice, crisis intervention with police services, hospital-based mental health, emergency and intensive care, as well as school boards in both Ottawa and Kingston, providing therapy and mental health support to children, adolescents, families and staff. He also teaches and supervises other helping professionals in developing their therapeutic skills, reflecting his passion for advancing high-quality, client centred, mental health care.
Throughout his career, Joshua has completed extensive training in a variety of evidence-based therapeutic approaches. Rather than believing one modality is the answer for everyone, however, he draws from a broad range of knowledge and experience to tailor therapy to each individual. His focus isn’t on fitting clients into a particular model, rather, he aims to deeply understand his clients so that he can provide support that will genuinely help them.
Josh has a particular passion for working with youth and young adults, OCD, neurodivergence (including ADHD and autism), anxiety, depression and mood concerns, men’s mental health issues and positive masculinity, couples, communication and relationship dynamics, and sport and performance psychotherapy. Whether someone is navigating a difficult life transition, feeling overwhelmed, lost, and alone, or struggling in their relationships, or simply wanting to better understand and better themselves, his goal is to create a space where they feel heard, understood, seen, and supported.
He firmly believes that clients are the experts in their own lives. His role is to bring curiosity, compassion, practical tools, and a fresh perspective while working alongside them to build on the strengths they already possess. Therapy isn’t about “fixing” people, it’s about helping them recognize their own capacity for growth and equipping them with the skills and confidence to create meaningful, lasting change.
