Perhaps this question makes you think of your potential in accessing your strengths. I strongly believe people can be empowered to find their own answers. I value individual difference, integrity, honesty, finding your own path, relationships and connection to ourselves and others. I am willing to sit with people during times that feel like chaos. I can tolerate stuckness. I am not afraid of being afraid and can walk in the dark uncertain places until a person experiences a more hopeful vision for the future.
My professional counselling qualifications include a Master of Counselling from the University of Calgary and a Bachelor of Social Work from the University of Regina. I am a certified counsellor and member of the Canadian Counselling and Psychotherapy Association as well as a Registered Social Worker. I am also a certified Mindful Instructor through Mindful Schools.
I am a counsellor with over 10 years experience. I am trained in EMDR, Cognitive Behavior Therapy, Mindful and Narrative therapy approaches. I value the right for the person to choose which approach supports them with the particular concern they are facing.
I have over 30 years experience working in the Human Service field. I have extensive experience working with children from ages 5 and up and their families including youth at risk, foster care, group care and children, parents and families struggling with mental health issues. I have a background in school counselling in the rural communities. I work with people of all ages to help them envision a more hopeful future.
