Katie is a Registered Clinical Social Worker and the Director of Aligned Minds Counselling and Therapy. Katie’s friends and colleague would describe her as a quirky, strong willed, out of the box thinker, but if you ask her, she will tell you she is just happy to be help.
Katie received her Bachelor of Social Work which specialized on Rural, Remote and Aboriginal Communities in 2011. Katie then completed a Master of Social Work with a Trauma-Informed Clinical Specialization. Katie has worked with domestic violence programs, family court, corrections, community addictions and mental health counselling, and seniors’ care. Katie has also trained in cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT), motivational interviewing, solution focused therapy, trauma informed care and Eye-Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR).
Katie has a softness for trauma survivors, and works from a trauma informed, strength-based lens and understands how difficult it can be to “own your story”. It can be difficult to see how our understanding of the world around us can be misaligned with what we are searching for in our lives.
