I am a grounded, small-town gal who is a helper by nature. I believe in giving space for feelings, to validate and understand them, then suggest taking actions to make positive changes, and to help you live your best life. By working together, we can address such issues as anxiety, depression, managing crisis, vocational issues, grief and loss, and/or trauma. I am experienced in working with people with disabilities as well.

Katie has experience providing support and therapies for people with disability, depression, anxiety, grief and loss, trauma, crisis, and vocation. She understands indigenous culture and has experience living and working with and for indigenous communities and their people.
Working from a trauma-informed perspective, she integrates crisis treatment and safety planning with somatic tools like breath work and grounding techniques. Her holistic approach includes practical support through employment assessments and goal planning, all grounded in a nuanced understanding of Indigenous culture and its associated barriers.

Worked closely with the RCMP, Crown Counsel, and other community resources. Provided emotional support for people who have been victims of a crime. Participated in the Sexual Assault Response Team (SART). Crisis counselling and safety planning. Using trauma-informed theories and practices to de-escalate heightened individuals. While guiding individuals through grounding techniques to treat trauma triggers. Member of the HRDV/ICAT Team, who manages the highest risk domestic violence cases, by performing Risk Assessments.
Employment Counsellor – WorkBC Northwest Training 2022-2023
Completing comprehensive assessments for employability. Using a person-centred approach and solution-focused therapies to assist with emotional dysregulation of changing employment or re-education. Co-Facilitated the Bridging Employment Services for Women Program by providing a feminist view and therapies to build the confidence of women who have been victims of abuse.
Family Preservation Worker - Kermode Friendship Society 2020 – 2022
Managing a caseload of children in foster care who received court-ordered visitation with their parent or parents by facilitating supervised access visits. Worked closely with MCFD, behavioural interventionist, and assigned social workers, as well as foster parents. Using a trauma-informed approach to provide parenting skills and direction. Behavioural Therapies and Integrative Therapies where primarily the modalities used when supporting children with autism or developmental delays.

Co-facilitated a grief group for individuals who experienced the recent death of a loved one.
