About Katie
Katie Scott- Occupational Therapist
Katie Scott is an Occupational Therapist at Allied Therapy who completed her Master’s degree in Occupational Therapy at Dalhousie University after earning her undergraduate degree from Mount Allison University. She brings experience across paediatric development, adolescent mental health, community programming, and family-centered care.
Katie has worked with children and youth across a wide range of ages and needs. Her experience includes providing developmental assessment and intervention for children from birth to five, as well as working within intensive mental health services for adolescents experiencing concurrent mental health and substance-use challenges. She has also provided school-based clinical therapy to children, youth, and families.
Her occupational therapy practice recognizes that development, mental health, relationships, routines, and environments are closely connected. Katie supports areas such as emotional and self-regulation, executive functioning, self-care, play, feeding, sleep, toileting, and participation in meaningful everyday activities.
Katie takes a family-centered and trauma-informed approach, working collaboratively with children and caregivers to understand what is happening within the broader context of daily life. Her background in mental health allows her to consider the relationship between thoughts, feelings, behaviours, and everyday functioning while helping families identify practical strategies that fit their goals and routines.
She has additional training in approaches including DBT skills for adolescents and families, CBT for children and adolescents, and anxiety-focused intervention, and has experience facilitating evidence-informed programs for parents and youth focused on attachment, relationships, wellness, self-care, and executive functioning.
Katie is particularly passionate about helping children and families build skills and environments that support long-term wellbeing, not simply addressing an isolated challenge, but understanding the whole person and the systems around them.
Originally from Ottawa, Katie was drawn to the Maritimes by its strong sense of community and access to the outdoors. Outside of work, she enjoys reading, spending time outside, staying active, and connecting with others over shared meals.
Katie provides in-person Occupational Therapy at Allied Therapy’s Bedford clinic and virtual services across Nova Scotia.
