About Kelsey
Kelsey Mawaro is a Registered Dietitian and Certified Diabetes Educator serving individuals and families in Prince Albert and the surrounding area. With over 12 years of experience, Kelsey is known for her compassionate and non-judgmental approach. She strives to meet people where they are at and supports them in setting realistic, personalized goals to achieve better health and well-being.
Previously, Kelsey worked with individuals living on reserve and provided holistic nutrition programming and counselling in the sectors of public health, community health, and diabetes education. Kelsey also spent time working in the Canada Prenatal Nutrition Program, where she gained experience supporting pregnant women, infants, children, and families. Kelsey now mainly works in adult nutrition and diabetes education at her day job with the SHA but also offers private nutrition counselling in the area of infant and childhood nutrition with Cradled Wellness.
Kelsey has a special interest in introducing solids to infants, supporting children through different stages of eating, navigating picky eating, and fostering a positive, healthy relationship with food for the whole family. Kelsey offers a support group for parents introducing solids to their infants (See Cradled Wellness website for booking), as well as individual support as needed. She believes in supporting and coaching parents to set healthy boundaries around food and feeding so that parents can confidently do their job of feeding, so that their child can do their job of eating. She often reminds parents that they, too, are going through a learning process – while children are learning to eat, their parents are leaning to feed.
Last, but not least, Kelsey is a mom to two amazing little humans aged 3 and 6. She has firsthand experience feeding children and all the anxiety, excitement, frustration, and joy that comes with this. Kelsey strongly believes that in order to improve nutrition, we need to bring JOY back to the feeding and eating experience.
