Kevin Valcke
À propos de Kevin
Dans ses motsKevin has been practicing since 2015 when he completed a post-grad fellowship in Sports Physiotherapy at UBC. For the past 9 years, Kevin has been working in sports medicine settings both clinically and with teams. For the past two years, he has been the Lead Therapist & Medical Coordinator with the Canadian Women’s National Volleyball Team.
Prior to that role, Kevin worked with UBC Varsity Athletics – Basketball, Rugby and Swimming (2015-2021), Field Hockey Canada (2016-2017), UBCOB Raven’s Rugby Club (2016-2022), and has accompanied Team Canada at two FISU World University Games (2017, 2023). Alongside his sports roles, Kevin worked clinically at UBC where he saw all clients ranging from kids to elderly, athletes and non-athletes alike.
Clinically, Kevin uses a simplistic and common-sense approach to rehabilitation. Focusing on education, hands-on work, and progressively challenging exercises, he enjoys pushing clients to work hard and take control. He prides himself on treating everyone with the same vigor and enthusiasm for rehab as professional athletes. He has a special interest in knee, foot, and ankle conditions, though he is well-versed in all areas of the body.

Bike Fit
« Our physiotherapists have advanced training in bike fitting, are avid (some competitive) cyclists, and will do whatever it takes to find the fit that will enhance performance, increase comfort and prevent overuse injuries.
Our Approach:
Your therapist will:
• Conduct a brief medical/riding history: Your physio will learn about your goals, current level of cycling, and any issues you’re experiencing on the bike.
• Perform a musculoskeletal exam: Targeting trouble regions with cycling, specifically looking for range of motion or strength deficiencies that may be limiting optimal positioning.
• Assess your existing on-bike ergonomics: Identify pain sources.
• Observe your postural and pedaling techniques: From front, back, and sides.
From the on-bike assessment, your physiotherapist will:
• Adjust cleats, saddle, handlebars, and stem for optimal positioning.
• Recommend exercises and stretches to perform off the bike, if needed.
• Provide an individualized bike fit report: Includes measurements and modifications made, and any suggestions from the bike fit.
• If any adjustments are recommended that are not possible in the clinic, your physio will provide recommendations on where/how to proceed with this. »Physiotherapy ExtendedFollow-up
