Biography
Lauren Macauley is a dedicated physiotherapist with over a decade of experience, having graduated from Dalhousie University. She holds certifications in Gunn Intramuscular Stimulation (IMS) therapy and is a recognized Fellow of the Canadian Academy of Manipulative Therapists (FCAMPT). Additionally, she has earned her Certificate from the Acupuncture Foundation of Canada Institute (CAFCI).
In her practice, Lauren prioritizes patient education about their injuries and employs a hands-on manual therapy approach for treatment. This is supplemented with IMS and acupuncture, which she finds to be powerful tools for treating surrounding soft tissue. Her primary goal is to empower patients about their injuries and witness the transformative power of physiotherapy.
Lauren has developed special interests in gait analysis for runners, plantar fascia and metatarsal pain, cervicogenic headaches, TMJ dysfunction, and in treating all forms of body sprains/strains. This has led her to work with a diverse range of international sports teams, from hurling and rugby in Ireland to Canada Games soccer teams and national rowers.
Lauren also specializes in concussion management, post-concussion syndrome, and vestibular rehabilitation, keeping up-to-date with the latest research and treatment techniques in this rapidly evolving field.
Away from the clinic, Lauren is an active competitor in equestrian dressage and dog agility with her sheltie dogs. These experiences have given her a well-rounded perspective on physiotherapy and ingrained in her a deep belief in the value of movement. She brings this holistic approach to every patient’s care.
