À propos de Leanna
Dans ses motsI am a Registered Social Worker, Psychotherapist who is registered to practice in the province of Ontario. I have over 20 years of experience providing psychotherapy focused services to individuals, couples and families.
I provide client centred services to individuals who need help identifying and coping with emotions, addressing counter-productive thoughts and changing maladaptive behviours and to couples and families dealing with a lack of connection, life stressors and difficulties that lead to conflict. I focus on a holistic approach to ongoing assessment and intervention planning that is a collaborative process with the individuals seeking service. Services are provided with a trauma informed and neurodiverse positive focus.
I use a polyvagal foundation while drawing on various other theories and therapeutic models in an eclectic treatment approach that fits with individual needs and addresses root causes of distress. Sessions are strength-based and focused on building competencies through positive psychology and personal empowerment with a focus on building functional neuropathways to support change.
Sessions focus on making links between current distress and maladaptive behaviours to foundational experiences and defining moments that lead to the exploration of root causes of current challenges. Sessions also focus on developing new understanding of thoughts and behaviour and new, more adaptive and functional skills for coping and responding to life’s challenges.
In couple and family sessions, various systems and emotion focused approaches are utilized to assess the interactions between the members of the couple or family in order to address conflict and build functional relationships and meaningful connections. Couple and Family sessions also focus on communication and relationship skill building.
I love the work that I do, helping people increase their awareness and skill building capacity and feelings of connection to the people in their lives that they care for. I am committed to providing client-centred care for you and your family. Please feel free to reach out with any questions you may have.
