About Lia
Lia is a Registered Psychotherapist and member of the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario. Her approach to psychotherapy is grounded in the understanding that emotional struggles can feel exhausting and often lead to loneliness and isolation. Relationships may become strained, and repetitive patterns can develop as a way of coping with life’s challenges.
She is able to support individuals through one-to-one counselling sessions who are 16+ years of age, including seniors.
With over 15 years of experience in practice and a focus on psychodynamic psychotherapy, additional approaches may also be incorporated when appropriate, including EMDR, Somatic Experiencing, and art therapy.
Some additional practice specialties:
- Anxiety, depression, life transitions
- Relationships
- Trauma informed therapy
- Addictions experience, but not if in an active addiction
- EMDR and Somatic therapy when needed
- Strong focus on psychodynamic style therapy
Every individual has unique needs, and therapy is approached without judgement or expectation, with the goal of helping individuals discover or rediscover what is most important to them.
As a graduate and affiliate member of the Toronto Psychoanalytic Society, Lia’s psychotherapy training focuses on the many ways the unconscious attempts to repeat behaviours that may make sense in some ways, but can also become limiting over time.
Lia believes therapy is a deeply collaborative and relational process where individuals are given the space to feel heard, understood, and supported without judgement. Her approach is grounded in curiosity, compassion, and the belief that many emotional struggles and behavioural patterns develop as ways of coping with difficult experiences, relationships, or circumstances.
Through thoughtful exploration, Lia helps individuals gain greater awareness of unconscious patterns, limiting beliefs, and emotional experiences that may no longer serve them. She works closely with each individual to foster insight, self-understanding, and meaningful change at a pace that feels supportive and manageable.
As trust and safety within the therapeutic relationship deepen, individuals may begin to experience greater ease in their way of being, improved relationships, and a stronger connection to themselves and their needs. Lia is passionate about helping people better understand their inner world, rediscover their potential, and move toward a life that feels more fulfilling and aligned.
Through Psychotherapy, Lia can provided assistance for individuals who:

- Are frequently drawn to self-destructive behaviours
- Feel stuck, frustrated, or unable to see a way forward
- Notice situations or patterns continuing to repeat themselves
