Liv Matthews only provides Psychological Assessments
Liv is a Registered Psychologist with the College of Alberta Psychologists specializing in psychoeducational assessment. Liv obtained a Bachelor of Arts (Honours) in Psychology from the University of Calgary and a Master of Counselling from the City University of Seattle. They also have an 18-year history of volunteering and working in the mental health field, including practicum placements at the Third Academy and the City University of Seattle Calgary Clinic.
Liv’s experience has primarily focused on supporting individuals living with autism spectrum disorder (ASD), various learning disabilities, cognitive impairments, and other developmental delays. They volunteered with the Learning Disabilities Association of Ontario and worked as a Community Disability Practitioner. Liv embraces neurodiversity and sees the intrinsic value of every client they meet. They engage in a neuroaffirmative assessment approach, and they combine unconditional positive regard and empathy with careful clinical judgement and evidence-based assessment practices.
Liv has a passion for psychological assessment. They are committed to helping clients gain a deeper understanding of themselves and their unique strengths and challenges. They aim to help clients recognize and build on their abilities and accomplishments, fostering self-acceptance, confidence, and self-advocacy. They strive to provide practical recommendations to support clients in navigating their lives authentically and in line with their personal definitions of success. As a guardian to someone with ASD and as a clinician living with AuDHD (ASD & ADHD combined), Liv brings a wealth of personal experience into their work that complements their professional expertise. Their professional and lived experience provides additional insight into the experiences many neurodivergent individuals and families navigate.
Outside of their work in psychology, Liv enjoys spending time with family and friends, singing along to music, playing a variety of video and board games, practicing crochet, and snuggling with their cats.
