Dans ses motsLori has held various roles in the public school system and in private counselling practice for 25 years. She was the Trauma-Informed Educator Consultant for the Beaufort Delta Education Council in the N.W.T. from 2020-2022. Additionally, she taught Psychopathology, Psychopharmacology, and Using the DSM-5 to adults at Stenberg College.
She was the International Student Coordinator involving the integration of youth into the Nova Scotia school system and society. Her role consisted of providing professional development for teachers regarding the challenges individuals may face when moving into a different culture from their own.
An additional role Lori fulfilled for 12 years was the Race Relations and Cross-Cultural Understanding Officer involving mediation, conflict resolution, documentation, and extensive professional development regarding these issues. At that time, she provided parent information sessions, professional development for teachers, and many adolescents presentations regarding communication, Glasser’s theory of basic psychological needs, cognitive-behavioural strategies, LGBTQ topics, and bullying. Lori’s doctoral work has included course work in psychopathology, assessment, multicultural counselling, positive psychology, learning and memory, motivation, consulting in health care and education, and psychopharmacology in addition to the core courses required for a Clinical Psychology Doctorate. Her extensive dissertation includes a systematic review of 136 recent research articles addressing the psychological repercussions of childhood trauma.
