Marla is a Registered Clinical Counsellor (#20242) with the BC Association of Clinical Counsellors. She holds a Master's degree in Counselling Psychology from Adler University.
Counselling gives us the opportunity to explore the role our unfinished business is playing in our lives currently. This exploration looks different for everyone but the destination looks similar - an increased sense of self, better awareness of your needs, and the ability to challenge the roadblocks that have been getting in the way of your healing. Every person is different. As are their needs in counselling. Marla approaches her work with each client through an eclectic, trauma-informed lens to ensure the best fit for each individual and their needs. You will work together to establish safety in the relationship and build opportunities for authentic connection to pave the way for the counselling journey.
Marla specializes in working with adolescents and adults of all genders, cultures, sexual orientations, and abilities in a variety of presenting issues including substance use, trauma, relationships, and emotional disturbance. She is trained in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Motivational Interviewing, Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT), Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) among other modalities and approaches.
Marla acknowledges the territory he lives and works on as the traditional, ancestral and unceded territory of the kʷikʷəƛ̓əm (Kwikwetlem First Nation).
