Senior Counsellor
Mikah Turner-Alexander is a Registered Clinical Counsellor with a Master of Counselling Psychology from Adler University and a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from California State University, Long Beach.
As a mother of three, an advocate, and a lifelong learner, Mikah understands the many roles we navigate in life and the importance of having a space where our experiences and feelings are validated. Coming from four generations of women helpers, she has always felt called to support others and brings that passion and dedication into her counselling work.
Mikah has over a decade of experience supporting children, youth, and families, including at-risk and marginalised populations in collaboration with the Ministry of Children and Family Development. This work deepened her trauma-informed approach and strengthened her ability to support attachment, resilience, and safe living environments.
She has experience working with individuals facing challenges such as anxiety, depression, trauma, attachment, parenting, life transitions, boundaries, and emotional regulation. Her approach draws on Cognitive-Behavioural, Narrative, Client-Centred, Family Systems, and trauma-informed frameworks, always moving at the client’s pace and focusing on what feels most meaningful to them.
Mikah is honoured to be a woman of colour in the counselling field and is passionate about supporting the BIPOC community. Having personally experienced how difficult it can be to find representation in mental health care, she is committed to creating a space where clients feel seen, supported, and empowered in their growth.
Outside of her work, Mikah finds grounding through time spent with her family and in nature, values she weaves into her practice with clients as they work toward balance, healing, and connection.
