Hello, I'm Mike! I'm a Registered Provisional Psychologist with the College of Alberta Psychologists. I hold a Bachelor of Health Sciences (Addiction Counselling) and a Master of Counselling in Applied Psychology (Counselling Psychology), both from the University of Lethbridge. Since 2017, I have worked in both clinical and academic settings focused on addiction and mental health. My experience includes serving as an Addiction Counsellor with Recovery Alberta (formerly Alberta Health Services), as well as teaching in the Addiction Counselling Program at University of Lethbridge as a sessional lecturer. In addition to my formal education, I’ve completed training in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) and The Gottman Method for Couples Therapy (Levels 1 & 2). My counselling approach is client-centered and trauma-informed, with a focus on how early developmental experiences and attachment patterns influence how we think, feel, and relate to others. I believe that therapy should be a collaborative process—one that helps you better understand your experiences and supports you in making meaningful, lasting changes. I draw from a variety of therapeutic methods, including Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT), mindfulness, EMDR, and psychoeducation. Counselling is a space for reflection, growth, and healing. My goal is to provide a supportive, inclusive environment where you feel safe, heard, and empowered to move forward with clarity and confidence. I have experience working with individuals, couples, families, addiction and compulsive behaviours, anxiety, ADHD, and grief and loss.
