Dans ses motsOshia specializes with individuals experiencing crisis, trauma, high stress, adjustment stress and anxiety. Oshia is skilled at helping individuals with neurodivergence develop coping skills, develop self-understanding and learn about any potential diagnosis. Oshia works with individuals with physical and/or cognitive disabilities; many long-term or permanent, those who need help developing living skills, those who had experienced a motor vehicle accident and/or those experiencing chronic pain. Oshia is a warm, compassionate therapist whose main goal is to help you feel comfortable, feel heard and accepted.
Oshia MacKay received her Bachelor of Arts (BA) from Mount Saint Vincent University with a major in Psychology and a minor in Family Studies, graduating with distinction in 2020. Closely following, she began her master’s program at Yorkville University, achieving her Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology (MACP) in late 2022, graduating top of her class. Oshia became registered with the Nova Scotia College of Counselling Therapists (NSCCT) in February of 2023 and currently holds the title of Registered Counselling Therapist - Candidate (RCT-C).
Oshia’s experience reflects very extensive use of cognitive processing therapy (CPT), cognitive behaviour therapy (CBT), and mindfulness-based interventions (i.e., MBCT or MBSR). However, she has also worked with dialectical behaviour therapy (DBT), strengths-based therapy, and narrative therapy. In recent months, Oshia has also been fascinated by acceptance and commitment therapy, utilizing it in both the standard (ACT) and trauma-focused (TF-ACT) forms.
