À propos de Pamela
Dans ses motsA graduate of Dalhousie and Acadia, Pam has over twenty years experience working with women to overcome anxiety, depression, self-harming, suicidality, flashbacks, nightmares, disordered eating, panic attacks, and other issues related to trauma. A trauma survivor herself, Pam gives confidence to clients that they can take charge of their healing, and reclaim their wellness. Offering evidence-based therapies, including Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), parts work, mindfulness and cognitive therapies, Pam invites collaboration with clients. You will be heard, respected and believed.
Pam is especially dedicated to supporting women with complex trauma to reclaim their strength and dreams. Complex trauma is rooted not in a single event, but in longer exposures to abuse, neglect or danger. Complex trauma can include betrayal by family or institutions or communities that should have been safe.
Pam is directly trained and supervised by world-renowned trauma pioneer, Dr. Janina Fisher, and is a Level 3 Certified Trauma Informed Stabilization Treatment practitioner. Pam has been a powerful advocate for trauma survivors and a consultant on many government and community initiatives, including the first comprehensive survivor-centred sexual assault services framework for Nova Scotia: https://novascotia.ca/coms/svs/docs/SufferinginSilence2008.pdf She was an official participant in the Nova Scotia Mass Casualty Commission and you can read her report here: https://masscasualtycommission.ca/files/documents/Phase-2-WrittenFFF-PANST.pdf
Her legal training also allows Pam to knowledgeably offer emotional support to people navigating the justice system.
Pam lives with her partner of over thirty years and enjoys running and kayaking in her free time.
