Rachel van Wersch, R.TCM.P
À propos de Rachel
Dans ses motsRachel van Wersch is a Registered Traditional Chinese Medicine Practitioner (R.TCM.P) who studied both acupuncture and Chinese herbal medicine at Pacific Rim College in Victoria. After completing over 2900 hours of instruction, including over 700 hours of clinical experience, Rachel graduated summa cum laude with a Diploma of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine. Prior to her TCM studies, Rachel earned a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Victoria.
Traditional Chinese Medicine is based on syndrome differentiation, meaning each treatment is customized to the individual needs of the patient in order to relieve symptoms and address the root cause of disharmony. In working towards balancing the relative Yin and Yang flowing through the meridians, acupuncture can help guide the body back towards homeostasis and support the harmony of both our physical and mental health.
At VCA, Rachel provides acupuncture as well as adjunct therapies such as cupping, gua sha, and recommendations based on Chinese diet therapy. Outside of general practice and preventative care, Rachel has a special interest in reducing stress and the myriad of health complications that may arise alongside it, such as muscle tension, headaches, insomnia, anxiety, menstrual irregularities and digestive discomfort.

Community Acupuncture is a new model of health care in the west but its medical origins are over 5000 years old. Following in the footsteps of Asian culture, we offer affordable treatment in a group setting. Our clients rest on comfortable leather recliners and are supported and encouraged to 'take refuge in the present moment'. Many people feel that sharing a space during healing activities like group meditation or yoga has many positive benefits. In a group acupuncture setting, people often report feeling less nervous when they see others relaxing and often sleeping during acupuncture treatment. The collective energy in the room makes community acupuncture a very powerful healing experience.
This treatment is eligible for medical coverage. »Cupping (no acupuncture)
« Get marked by oriental bliss! Cupping is an excellent technique to draw out toxins from deep within the body. It is a non-evasive, therapeutic and deeply relaxing treatment, during which the practitioner takes a small glass cup and ignites a small flame inside the cup, creating a vacuum. The cup is then quickly applied to the body (this is a warm and soothing touch to the skin), drawing the skin up a few millimeters into the cup and then moved around for the ultimate massage. Perfectly round marks are common following treatment and usually go away after a week or two. »First-Time Visit, Private Table Acupuncture
« Please book this option if it is your first visit to VCA for acupuncture. Traditional Chinese medicine has been using acupuncture for thousands of years to restore balance, increase vitality, reduce or relieve pain and for therapeutic use. Tiny stainless steel needles are placed into energy points, called "acupoints", that work to increase the flow of energy through the body. Acupuncture is an effective treatment for pain relief, frozen shoulder, sciatica, back pain, lymphatic drainage and more. Private table acupuncture is great for those wishing for more time with the needles and those who wish to slip off to sleep in total privacy. Table treatment also allows for needles in the back of the body as one can lie face down. This treatment is eligible for medical coverage. »First-time Private Table Acupuncture + CUPPING or GUA SHA
« Please book this option if it is your first visit to VCA for acupuncture. This treatment includes acupuncture in a private room, as well as an add-on treatment of cupping or gua sha (also known as channel scrubbing).
